Sport in Action Zambia

A group of 6 Durham University students are travelling to Zambia this summer to support local sport coaches. They are asking Grassroots clubs to donate equipment they can take with them to support the local people in Zambia. If your club would like to donate, please contact James.Nugent@Durham.ac.uk

James Nugent who is going to Zambia had this to say:

My name is James Nugent and I’m part of a team of Durham students who will be going out to Zambia with Team Durham for Sport in Action (Volunteer Zambia). Whilst we are there, we will be helping sports coaches give sports sessions in basketball, netball, and football. I will be helping the Zambian coaches teach and implement football games and activities in the local communities. One thing that hinders these games and sessions is the distinct lack of equipment, and the equipment they do have gets destroyed quickly by the harsh ground conditions.

What we and the Zambian children would absolutely love and appreciated beyond words is if we could take out as much equipment as possible. I’m especially talking about Footballs, Bibs, and Cones. I’m essentially reaching out to you to see if you are willing to forward this/ a similar email to local clubs both big and small asking them to be as generous as they can and donate as much equipment as possible.

I know footballs and equipment are expensive, but the Zambian children and communities would appreciate it beyond words.
