Referee Development Officer

Salary £27,000 Fixed term contract until 30th June 2024 (post continuation subject to FA funding)

The Durham County FA Ltd is seeking to recruit a Referee Development Officer with responsibility of developing the Referee workforce across the County FA boundaries.

The role encompasses the following areas:

• To support delivery of the Durham County FA business plan and The FA National Game Strategy, FA Referee Strategy. 
• To recruit, convert, retain, develop and progress referees to service the game.
• To ensure effective implementation of The FA 365 Safeguarding Operating Standard
• To support the adoption of FA technology systems across grassroots football.
• To appoint match officials to County Cup fixtures.

You will need to be passionate about and committed to the recruitment and development of referees. You should have experience as a referee and/or referee development along with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to positively influence at all levels.

You will require a good knowledge of the refereeing workforce within the county and their ability plus levels they operate at.

You should have a proven track record of working with and developing a volunteer workforce.

The role will involve travelling around the County, so a driving licence and your own transport is essential.

You must be able to work under pressure, prioritise and meet deadlines as well as taking ownership of the responsibilities of the role you will need to do so within a team environment or working on your own.

The post is based at the headquarters of the Durham County Football Association Ltd, working 35 hours per week. Evening and weekend work will be necessary when required.

As this role involves direct access to young persons under the age of eighteen, within the context of the job or any subsequently related activities or responsibilities, the successful candidate will undergo a thorough screening process, which will include a DBS check, to ensure their suitability for the role.

The successful candidate will be subject to a six-month probationary period.
