Durham FA U21/23 Mid-Week League moving forwards

On Monday 16th April 2018 the Durham County FA organised a meeting with senior clubs regarding the formation of a midweek U21/U23 league.

In attendance were Gateshead FC, Darlington FC, Bishop Auckland FC, Chester le Street Town FC, Washington AFC and Gateshead Leam Rangers FC, with apologies from several others.

The meeting was very constructive and has resulted in the Association opening applications to all teams who may wish to enter.

The benefit of this league will be to provide opportunities for players leaving youth football to play at a high level leading into senior teams and also for injured players playing time before returning to first team action.

  • The fixtures would be played midweek on a date agreed by the competing teams.
  • Allow 2 or 3 over age players to participate.
  • Games officiated by 3 match officials (home club to pay for referee and the league would pay the assistants).
  • Venues would need floodlights and dug outs as well as being fully enclosed.

 A further meeting will take place in May and any teams interested should register their interest by clicking the link below;
