WOMENS RECREATIONAL FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

Durham County FA ran their first Women's Recreational Football Tournament on Sunday 19th June at Maiden Castle.

On Sunday 19th June Durham FA ran their first Women’s Recreational Football Tournament at Maiden Castle in Durham which saw over 90 women take part on the day. Players for the event included women who had never played football before as well as women who were looking to get back into the game after a number of years out the game. It was great to see so many women of all ages take part in the event, see them enjoying playing football and see so many of their family members on the sidelines’ cheering them on.

A massive thank you to the below teams who took part in the event:

Hebburn Town

FC Hartlepool Mams

Hartlepool Her-icanes

Rutherford Recreational Women’s A

Rutherford Recreational Women’s B

S Club United

S Club Topdogs

Washington AFC Wildcats

Washington AFC Lionesses

Whickham Fellside

The final consisted of FC Hartlepool Mams and S Club Topdogs and was closely contested by both teams, but it was FC Hartlepool Mams who came out on top winning the tournament overall.
