Disability League Success

New Disability Football League success

A new League was launched by Durham FA at the beginning of the year for players from local Day Service Organisations in South Tyneside.

The league was developed to compliment the weekly recreational session which is delivered currently at Temple Park Sports Centre for the Day Service Organisations. After consultation with the players it was agreed league fixtures would be played every 3 weeks.

The league is played using the indoor facilities at Temple Park Leisure Centre with a star player trophy awarded for each fixture and there is an overall league winner. A volleyball was used for the players to build confidence, which has had a fantastic response with more players joining the weekly sessions and league games. This year the winning team were South Tyneside Day Services Team 1 also known as Ruby Slippers.

All teams played some fantastic football showing the skills they have developed over the past 6 months. The League will be starting back up again in September and hope to have additional players and teams taking part.
