Man v Fat

Man v Fat Programme proves a great success

Durham FA has been working in partnership with Durham County Council and Wellbeing for Life to host a MAN v FAT League in Chester-Le-Street.

MAN V FAT is a weight loss programme for men using the power of football. Participants take part in a weekly 6 a side competition, but can score bonus goals off the pitch by losing weight and keeping a food and activity diary each week. So even if you lose a match on the pitch, you could still win because of the weight-loss goals your team has scored!
The programme is perfect for men who want to lose weight and get back into football. The team element of the weight loss keeps you accountable as players don’t want to put on weight and score the dreaded ‘own goal’ that loses your team the match.

Collectively, participants on the programme lost 500kg in 16 weeks, with a number of players losing above 10% of their original starting weight.
The winners of the Season 1 were Tellichubbies, with Fatsuma Tigers taking home the weight-loss title. Durham FA also hosted an additional football tournament over the Summer, with Tellichubbies coming out victorious in the final.

Season 2 of the Durham League is kicking off on Wednesday 4th September. All games will be played on the 3G pitch at the Riverside Sports Complex, Chester-Le-Street, DH3 3QR. Any player who would like to take part can sign up here: https://www.manvfatfootball.org/durham
