Disability Football

The Durham County FA is committed to providing all people with a disability, the pathway to reach their potential in football either as a player, coach, referee or administrator.

Adult North East Ability Counts League

The Adult Ability Counts league runs from the Russell Foster HQ Newbottle, Sunderland. The format is played 6 and 7 a side (depending on the division). Players must be 16+ to participate in the league and must have a PAN disability. FA ruling states that females up to 18 can play fixed football, any females aged 18 and under and participant in this league.

This is a regional league and is made up of 23 teams, 10 teams from Durham, 4 from Northumberland and 9 from North Riding. There are 6 divisions in the league. The league takes place once a month and runs over the months of March, April, May, June, September and October.

The league is going from strength to strength with more new teams from across the north east wanting to play/ join the league. Joint partnership work with the league, neighbouring County FA’s, SAFC Foundation and the Newcastle United Foundation means that we can continue building on the league.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) takes place in February and the banding festival takes place in March. The banding festival helps decide what league the teams will play in, the banding festival is in place to help make the league as fair as possibly.
