Girls Football Week

2:09 PM, Friday, 12 June 09. Women and Girls

The FA in partnership with Tesco’s are holding a ‘Girls Football Week’ and have chosen 9 County FA’s in England to host events.

Durham was one of the County FA’s chosen and as such, we are holding a girls football festival in Houghton-le-Spring & Stockton. The first event will take place on Monday 22nd June 2009 @ 5-8pm at Houghton Kepier Sports College and the second event on Thursday 25th June 2009 at Stockton Sixth Form College @ 5-8pm. The main aim of the festival is to get females of all ages to the event and to match them up with local clubs who are looking to develop/increase their girls sections.

The festival will comprise of fun and games, coaching, small sided games, taster sessions, healthy eating & drinks stalls from Tesco, England Women’s player appearances, Sunderland Women Players, Skills Coach sessions etc. We will also have an area reserved for local clubs to give out flyers, talk to participants and their parents about what their club can offer. It should be a fantastic evening and a great opportunity to contact hundreds of local girls with an interest in football and it would be great if your club could be there as part of this event.
