The whole programme was driven by the 2 Partnership Development Managers and 15 School Sport Co-ordiantors with the School Sports Partnership and the Durham County FA.
"The Stockton SSP is delighted to receive this award from the Football Foundation, It will make a significant difference to our ability to provide high quality PE and Sporting opportunities for the benefit of pupils in our schools. It also contributes towards the development of the National Game.
This project is a good example of how schools can work with National Governing Bodies to achieve their mutual aims. We are particularly indebted to Chris Smith, the Football Develoment Officer at Durham FA who has led and supported the Partnership throughout the bidding process. His help and expertise is greatly appreciated.
As a result of this project, 15 SSCos have been trained as FA Football Ambassadors and over seventy schools are now working to achieve FA Charter Standard status. The fact that there is now a teacher holding a football coaching qualification in every one of our schools, can only assist educational standards to improve. Because of this Award we can now look forward in Stockton-on-Tees, to even more children having great fun, playing and learning through football.
I would recommend to all School Sport Partnerships to get involved with their local FA Development Team and the Football Foundation, in order to develop joint projects which fulfil their local needs." said Carl Smith, PDM Stockton School Sports Partnership
