Safeguarding Children in Football

3:43 PM, Thursday, 05 June 08. Safeguarding Children

Ensuring that those players and officials who participate in youth football involving players under the age of 18 year old play in a safe and protected environment is paramount to all in football and therefore The Football Association has decided that those Leagues and Clubs that provide such opportunities MUST have a nominated League/Club Welfare Officer in position to allow them to affiliate for the 2008/2009 season.

For information about affiliation please download the leafet under 'Related Documents' on the right hand side of the page.

The first step is to ensure that your nominated person has had an FA Enhanced Criminal Record Bureau check (£12.00), this is compulsory to allow affiliation for the 2007/2008 season, that person will also need to attend a three hour Safeguarding Children Workshop (£18.00), and then attended a three hour Welfare Officer Workshop(cost £18.00).

For further information on the process visit the Durham County FA website, durhamfa.com or contact the County Welfare Officer, Richard Hughes on (0191) 3872929 or email richard.hughes@durhamfa.com
