This was with a free FA Level 1 course, organised with a specific goal in supporting the development of the Women's & Girls’ game.
At Houghton Kepier Sports College, a week-long intense course was delivered starting on Monday 7th April 2008. As the course took place during the Easter period, this allowed attendees to include teachers, young students, and young female players looking to advance their knowledge and progress through the coaching pathway.
The participants gained a basic appreciation of organising football for young players and attended both the FA Emergency Aid and FA Child Protection workshops as part of the Level 1 course.
The course achieved 22 new Level 1 Coaches who will now be going back into their community, where they will be supporting Women and Girls’ football development, through either local schools, and/or club programmes.
