On passing the examinations, you become a Level 9 trainee referee.
Once you then referee 6 x 11 a side games you become a level 8 referee if you are aged 15 or under, or a Level 7 referee if you are aged 16 and over.
The promotion season begins on 1 March 2010 and ends on the 28 February 2011.
Applications for promotion for Season 2010/2011 are now closed.
DURHAM COUNTY FA PROMOTION CRITERIA – 2010-2011 SEASON
LEVEL 7 – 6
Referees must have officiated for a minimum of one Season.
You must be 16 years old or older.
You must be officiating in 11-a-side football which consists of players 17 years old and older.
You must officiate a minimum of 20 11-a-side fixtures (this does not include friendly games) from 1st March 2010 to the last day in February 2011.
You must have a minimum of 5 assessments.
You must be prepared to officiate in County Cup fixtures
You must ensure you close all unavailable dates.
LEVEL 7 – 5
You must be 16 years old or older.
You must be officiating in 11-a-side football which consists of players 17 years old and older.
You must officiate a minimum of 40 11-a-side fixtures (this does not include friendly games) and 20 of these games must be before the end of September 2010.
You must have a minimum of 6 assessments.
You must be prepared to officiate in County Cup fixtures
You must ensure you close all unavailable dates.
You must officiate in a minimum of 5 fixtures as an Assistant Referee.
Should you be successful in promotion to Level 5 and wish to be considered for Level 4 you would also need to pass the Level 4 fitness test which will be held in February/March 2011.
You would have to finish in the top 50% of each league you officiate in.
LEVEL 6 – 5
You must be 16 years old or older.
You must be officiating in 11-a-side football which consists of players 17 years old and older.
You must officiate a minimum of 20 11-a-side fixtures (this does not include friendly games).
You must have a minimum of 5 assessments.
You must be prepared to officiate in County Cup fixtures
You must ensure you close all unavailable dates.
You must officiate in a minimum of 5 fixtures as an Assistant Referee.

You must ensure you close all unavailable dates.
You must officiate in a minimum of 5 fixtures as an Assistant Referee.
Should you be successful in promotion to Level 5 and wish to be considered for Level 4 you would also need to pass the Level 4 fitness test which will be held in February/March 2011.
You would have to finish in the top 50% of each league you officiate in.
The standard fitness test (up to Level 4) involves:
• Two runs of 50m each in less than 7.5 seconds
• A minimum distance run of at least 2,500m in 12 minutes of continuous running.
The Durham County FA Promotion seminar will be held at DFA HQ on Sunday 6 June 2010 starting at 11.00am and all promotion candidates are expected to attend.
(Level 5 to 4 promotion candidates DO NOT need to attend a promotion seminar.)
