With only three league games taking place Birtley Phoenix took full advantage and moved joint top with a 5 – 3 home win over Gateshead Cleveland Hall.
Laura Finch, Rachel Winchester, Sam Brown, substitute Rebecca McCabe and an own goal secured the points for Birtley with Sarah McCattey, Sophie Johnson and Abbie Robinson replying for Cleveland Hall.
Hartlepool SC Ladies kept their good form going by recording a 3 – 1 home win over local rivals Seaham Magic. Hartlepool opened the scoring when Jo Hurral netted from a Charlotte Brown pass, however Seaham managed to equalise before half time with a Kelly Bell goal.
Hartlepool came out more determined after the team talk and went back into the lead with a Rachel Ingold strike and secured the win when Laura Hepple scored direct from a free kick.
Boldon Ladies recorded their third win of the season with a 3 – 1 away win over Gateshead Sapipa. Allison Leach was on top form when she bagged a hat trick with defender Stacie Smedley replying for Sapipa.
