Newcastle East End kept the challenge for the title on course when they recorded an excellent 4 – 0 away win over local rivals Walker Central. Jason Smith notched a brace with Steven Anderson and Connell Reed adding the others. The win points East End five points clear at the top.
Second placed New Hartley, who have two games in hand pulled off a great result with a 7 – 1 home win over third placed Lumley. Lee Mason bagged a hat trick, Ben Davidson netted two with defender Mark Andrews and substitute Dylan Williams added the others. Lumley, whose excellent season has faltered lately replied through Scott Fenwick.
Gateshead Redheugh traveled to Crookhall Pitmen and came out on top 5 – 3 thanks to goals from Terry Galbraith (2), Michael Hepplewhite (2) and Chris Tate. Crookhall made their visitors fight all the way and responded with goals from Michael Robson, James Gibson and John Green.
In the League Cup Chester le Street secured a semi final spot with a 5 – 0 win over Gateshead Leam Rangers. Oli Moffatt bagged a brace with Daniel Petts, Alex White and David Hurn adding the others.
Ryhope CW moved into the Eye Infirmary Cup Semi Final thanks to a 5 – 0 success over Willington. Anthony Rodgerson (2), Jonathan Davies, Chris Trewick and Chris Lawrence were on target. Earlier in the week they entertained Brandon United in the Subsidiary Cup and picked up three points with a 4 – 1 win, thanks to goals from Davies, Trewick, Michael Nicholson and Michael Smith. James Ogilvie hit Brandons consolation goal.
Willington and Gateshead Leam Rangers met in a Subsidiary Cup fixture and shared the points in a 1 – 1 draw. Martin Trow notched for Willington with Mark Fitzgerald replying for Leam.
