Beginners Guide to Coaching Disabled Footballers CPD Module

A course to support teachers working in special or mainstream education, coaches or young leaders. Gives ideas on practical delivery and the inclusion spectrum. This course supports the school-club link programme and the competition framework.

Duration – 5 hours
Minimum age – 16 years
Who for? – Teachers, coaches or young leaders.
Cost - £10.50 per candidate

Aims & Objectives

- Apply and extend your existing teaching skills and experience.

- Meet the needs and understand the inclusion spectrum to aid your teaching (theory and practical) of children with a range of disabilities to participate in a football lesson or after school activity

- To identify why children play football

- To identify additional skills to consider when teaching football to children with a disability

- To have an awareness of communication skills you may use when teaching football to children with disabilities

- To plan, organise and implement safe appropriate activities including warm up and cool down

- Understand the STEP principle

- Understand the player pathways available for children with a disability including the appropriate structure for competition

- Why children play football
- Skills and qualities of a teacher/coach working with disabled young people
- Introduction to LTPD
- Communication skills for working with disabled young people
- Safety issues to consider
- Inclusion spectrum


Practical

- Practical on the inclusion spectrum
