The purpose of the PDC is to identify players deemed to possess a higher level of ability from within grassroots football and place them within a technical programme designed to promote individual football development and promote progression to and involvement in Regional Impairment Specific Centres of Excellence, mainstream football activity or participation in the Regional Ability Counts Leagues.
As part of the Disability Player Pathway, a Disability Player Development Centre will represent an opportunity for players to access a higher level of coaching and dedicated support. The PDC programme will consist of a 20 week coaching programme and a minimum of two fixture dates in conjunction with other Centres.
The PDC will cater for players aged between 12 – 16 years of age (impacting under 13, under 14, under 15 and under 16 age groups). Age registration will operate from the 1st September 2011.
Players are invited from the National Squad impairment groups to enable progression to elite levels of performance:
- Amputee
- Cerebral Palsy
- Deaf
- Partially Sighted
- Learning Disability
