1st4sport Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Football

The Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Football/UEFA B qualification provides an exciting opportunity for candidates to advance their practical team coaching skills. On successful completion of the Certificate, candidates are qualified to coach the skills and techniques of football to both adults and children. Each candidate is fully supported in developing his/her knowledge and skills during the qualification.

Who should enrol?

Anybody over 18 years of age who has completed the Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football or FA Coaching Certificate. Candidates for the Certificate should be working with a team over an extensive period of time, with the aim of making a significant contribution to the performance of their team.


What are the entry requirements?

Candidates are required to:

· Hold the Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football or FA Coaching Certificate.


· Prior to certification, candidates are required to present evidence of attendance on:


· The F.A. Workshop - Child Protection and Best Practice.


· Hold The F.A. Emergency Aid Certificate or equivalent/recognised First Aid Certificate.

(Workshops are provided by Durham County FA on a regular basis.)


What will I learn?

In addition to expanding knowledge on all aspects covered in the Level 2 Certificate, successfully achieving the Level 3 Certificate will enable candidates to:

• demonstrate an understanding of the knowledge required to plan, conduct and evaluate football coaching programmes

• plan, conduct and evaluate individual coaching sessions within a structured and progressive coaching programme of advanced individual techniques, group skills and the principles of play

• coach the skills and techniques of the game as defined by the Technical Syllabus, including the principles of attack and defence through the use of phases of play, functional practices and small sided games (8v8)

• coach the sport through an appropriate understanding of the Laws of the Game.


How is the award assessed?

Candidates will be assessed via worksheets, completion of candidate pack and their practical coaching after the training course. A final practical assessment at which the candidate must demonstrate their coaching ability through the coaching of  two sessions from the technical syllabus at this level.


What is the duration of the qualification?

This qualification is delivered over a 90 hour period. Candidates are then given a period of practice before returning for final assessment.
