Who should enrol?
Anybody over 16 years of age with regular practical experience of participation in football, who is looking for an introduction to the vocational area of coaching Association Football.
What are the entry requirements?
Candidates are required to:
• have an interest in developing the skills of young people.
What will I learn?
How to:
• safely organise and supervise football activities including Mini Soccer, Small Sided and Conditional Games
• promote and establish working relationships and high standards between players, coaches, parents and officials
• understand different aspects of coaching children
• identify and adapt football activities and sessions for a variety of different age groups
• identify personal development opportunities in football including sports therapy, administration and officiating.
How is the qualification assessed?
Candidates will also be assessed by an external examiner on their delivery of a 20 minute practical coaching session on a topic chosen by the examiner from the Level 1 Football Practical Syllabus. Candidates will also be required to complete a number of theory tasks relating to the course units.
What is the duration of the qualification?
This qualification is structured over a period of 30 hours, usually spread over evening sessions or weekends.

Information: As from 1st May 2007 the price of this award will change to £100 for general public and £70 for coaches from Durham County FA Charter Standard Clubs and Schools. Thanks to sponsorship from Caterpillar Peterlee and Sportsmatch coaches from Durham County FA Charter Standard Clubs/Schools as well as accessing the bursary of £30 they will receive an Umbro equipment package worth £85 for each candidate who completes the course.
